Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro

Über Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro

The Les Paul Custom Pro is the Custom with ProBucker pickups and extra switching. A ProBucker-2 at the neck and a ProBucker-3 at the bridge use Alnico II magnets; pulling either volume knob splits that pickup's coils, and pulling the neck tone knob puts the pickups out of phase. The bell-shaped truss rod cover reads Les Paul Custom PRO.

The body is mahogany with a maple veneer top, bound in five-ply white and black on top, back and headstock. The set mahogany neck has a SlimTaper D profile with a satin back, a 24.75 inch scale, a 12 inch radius, a 1.68 inch nut and 22 medium jumbo frets. Most have a rosewood board with pearloid blocks; some have ebony. Hardware is gold, with Grover tuners, a LockTone Tune-O-Matic and stopbar, a Graph Tech NuBone nut and an all-metal three-way switch. A left-handed version was made. Ebony and Alpine White are the standard finishes; limited runs in other colors turn up, some with chrome hardware.

Dated examples run from 2012 to 2018, and most were made in China. Factory seconds and refurbished ones carry a 2ND or USED stamp on the back of the headstock and a new serial number. New ones came without a case. Weighed examples come in at about 8 to 9.1 lb (3.6 to 4.1 kg). The gold plating tarnishes with age.
