TC Electronic Ditto X2 Looper

Über TC Electronic Ditto X2 Looper

The TC Electronic Ditto is a minimalist looper: dead simple, true-bypass with analog dry-through, unlimited overdubs and undo/redo. The Ditto X2 here adds a second footswitch (stop and clear) plus reverse and half-speed effects and USB loop import/export, while the X4 adds two independent loops and more control. The Ditto Plus can store multiple loops.

Owners like the Ditto for exactly what it is: a cheap, simple, gets-out-of-the-way looper that just works, ideal for practice and building loops on the fly. The one thing to weigh is footswitches. The original single-switch Ditto uses taps and double-taps that a lot of players find fiddly live, so the common advice is to get a looper with more than one switch (stop and play on separate footswitches), which is exactly why owners point to the two-switch X2 over the one-switch original (or to a Boss RC for more features). Placement is usually last in the chain so it captures your full processed tone, or in the amp's effects loop to catch the amp's saturation. One caveat, mainly on the X4: it can freeze with all its lights on, a known flash-card and firmware bug, but owners fix it by reseating the internal memory card or reinstalling the firmware, after which it is reliable again.
