Eventide H9 Max Harmonizer Effects Processor

Über Eventide H9 Max Harmonizer Effects Processor

The Eventide H9 is a compact multi-effects pedal that runs Eventide's studio-grade algorithms: dozens of reverbs, delays, modulations, pitch shifters and harmonizers, distortions, a looper and a tuner. It runs one algorithm at a time, though some algorithms (like Space Time) combine delay, reverb and modulation in one, and the H9 Max ships with the full Factor-series library plus H9-only algorithms. Almost everything is deeply editable through the free H9 Control app on desktop or mobile, with expression-pedal sweeps and MIDI, and the H90 is its bigger successor.

Owners hold the H9 in very high regard, a longtime Eventide user calls it the best effects unit he has ever owned and says the algorithms are second to none and worth every penny, others simply call it amazing and say it does any effect you need. The draw is Eventide's reverbs, delays, pitch and modulation in one small box, plus the ability to save preset combinations. The way owners get the most from it is to consolidate their modulation, delay and reverb into programmed presets, the Space Time algorithm blends all three in one, and to drive it with the H9 Control app and a Barn3 aux switch or a MIDI controller so you can change sounds and toggle several effects with a single press instead of bending over your board. Two honest limits: it only runs one algorithm at a time, so a rig of separate pedals (or an HX Stomp, which stacks more effects at once) can be more flexible, and it is menu-driven, harder to tweak on the fly and reliant on the app, with a few owners finding the standard effects a little artificial and preferring to turn real knobs. If you want Eventide's algorithms and do not mind programming, it earns its keep.
