Owners hold the H9 in very high regard, a longtime Eventide user calls it the best effects unit he has ever owned and says the algorithms are second to none and worth every penny, others simply call it amazing and say it does any effect you need. The draw is Eventide's reverbs, delays, pitch and modulation in one small box, plus the ability to save preset combinations. The way owners get the most from it is to consolidate their modulation, delay and reverb into programmed presets, the Space Time algorithm blends all three in one, and to drive it with the H9 Control app and a Barn3 aux switch or a MIDI controller so you can change sounds and toggle several effects with a single press instead of bending over your board. Two honest limits: it only runs one algorithm at a time, so a rig of separate pedals (or an HX Stomp, which stacks more effects at once) can be more flexible, and it is menu-driven, harder to tweak on the fly and reliant on the app, with a few owners finding the standard effects a little artificial and preferring to turn real knobs. If you want Eventide's algorithms and do not mind programming, it earns its keep.
