Owners like the Swollen Pickle as a great, versatile Muff: it has a wide range of tones and a lot of tweakability, which matters with fuzz, and more than one owner would happily pick it and say you cannot go wrong. It shows up on fuzz shortlists next to pedals like the EQD Hizumitas. If you go shopping, the version matters: owners rate the mkII as the most versatile, with its internal trim pots and a hidden chainsaw tone, whereas the mkIII is still good but swaps those trim pots for switches and loses that setting, so get the mkII unless you do not mind the reduced flexibility.
