EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run Stereo Reverb & Delay with Tap Tempo V2

Über EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run Stereo Reverb & Delay with Tap Tempo V2

The EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run is a stereo reverb and delay in a single pedal, a two-for-one tank. It has tap tempo, a great traditional delay plus a reverse delay, a swell function, expression-pedal control and runaway self-oscillation. It is a digital pedal (the current V2), current-hungry on the FV-1 chip, so it wants an isolated supply.

Owners love the Avalanche Run, several calling it a favourite, even their favourite pedal in the world, and the sort of do-it-all box you keep for life. The appeal is that it is really two pedals in one, a stereo reverb and a delay in a single tank, so more than one owner reckons it is worth the money as a two-for-one. Beyond a great traditional delay it does reverse, swells, expression control and runaway self-oscillation, which is why it is a go-to for ambient and shoegaze. Two practical notes: it is a digital, current-hungry pedal (on the FV-1 chip) that wants isolated power and can get noisy daisy-chained, and although the pedal is stereo its delay is mono, which is the one thing that bugs stereo-delay purists. It is cross-shopped with other reverb-and-delay combos like the Strymon El Capistan, and pairs naturally with EQD's own Afterneath.
