JHS Morning Glory V4

Über JHS Morning Glory V4

The JHS Morning Glory is a low-to-medium-gain overdrive built around the classic Marshall Bluesbreaker circuit, sitting in the transparent camp rather than the mid-pushing Tube Screamer camp. An optional Red Remote footswitch adds a second, higher-gain mode, effectively two pedals in one, and JHS also pairs the circuit with a second drive in the Double Barrel.

Owners treat the Morning Glory as one of the great low-gain overdrives, the kind of pedal that stays always on, and several call it their longest-serving or favourite OD. Its most repeated use is stacking: it pairs classically with a Blues Driver or a Tube Screamer, run in either order. It is not perfectly transparent, though. It changes the EQ more than a flatter drive like the Greer Lightspeed, which most owners hear as a welcome brightness but a few find too bright or brittle, so the Morning Glory versus Lightspeed choice tends to split along that line. The Red Remote is widely liked for hands-free boost switching, with the occasional gripe that its volume jump is a bit much for use as a clean toggle.
