Universal Audio Dream ’65 Reverb Amplifier

Über Universal Audio Dream ’65 Reverb Amplifier

The Universal Audio UAFX Dream '65 is an amp emulator pedal that recreates the sound of a mid-60s blackface Fender combo, with its own EQ and onboard amp-style effects. It has stereo outputs for running into a board or straight to a desk, and it is part of UA's single-amp UAFX line alongside the Lion (Marshall), the Ruby (Vox) and the Enigmatic (Dumble). Note there is no headphone output.

Owners who want the Fender blackface sound call the Dream 65 absolutely fantastic, and it comes up again and again as one of the best amp modelers you can buy, several rate the whole UAFX amp line, Dream, Ruby, Lion and Enigmatic, at the top. The reasoning owners give is that a dedicated single-amp pedal beats a do-everything modeler when you want one particular amp voiced really well, so the advice is simple: pick the UAFX model that matches your target amp, the Dream if you are into Fender. The stereo outputs get used in clever ways, one owner sends one out to a DI and the other to a powered monitor for stage volume, and it can feed a wet and dry rig. It is not for everyone. There is no headphone out, which rules it out for some players, and a few who wanted more flexibility moved on to a ToneX, which they found more versatile and cheaper.
