The Fathom is Walrus Audio's multi-mode reverb: four modes (hall, plate, lo-fi and sonar) with lots of tone and spatial control, plus a sustain switch you hold to engage an incredible infinite reverb pad under your playing. It is a mono pedal. Owners love how it sounds, calling it lush, ambient and phenomenal, and for one player it is a core part of their signature sound. There is one big caveat, though, and it comes up again and again: noise. Several owners rate it as one of the noisiest reverbs they have owned, some hear a volume bump when it is in an effects loop, and a few find its shimmer a touch screechy. That is why, in head-to-head shopping, some owners loved the Fathom's sound but ended up choosing a quieter reverb like the MXR M300.
