About the Ernie Ball P03820 Slash Signature Electric Guitar Strings 11-48

The Ernie Ball Slash Signature set, released at the end of 2020, is a limited-edition tin of three 11-48 sets: his usual Power Slinky gauge wound with Paradigm core wire and plasma-enhanced nickel-plated steel wrap, with reinforced ball ends. The gauges are identical to a standard Paradigm 11-48 pack. It was US-only at launch, reached European dealers by spring 2021 and was reported discontinued by March 2022. The artist has played 11-48 Power Slinkys since the Snakepit years, after breaking too many 10-46 sets on stage in the Guns N' Roses era, and runs 10-46 on the twelve-string neck of the doubleneck.

Every recorded sale, one point each: 43 of them, placed by the day the ad went up. Too few sales to draw a trend through them without inventing one, so the points speak for themselves. Condition is mixed, so some of the spread is a mint against a fair rather than the market moving.

What owners have said elsewhere

Paraphrased from 21 discussion threads among 32 owners, 2019-2024. No names, nothing quoted.

Owners split on the tin: some call it marketing for collectors and keep it unopened, others worked out that three Paradigm sets cost more bought separately and see it as a deal with a souvenir thrown in. The Paradigm formula itself gets mixed marks: several found no more life than regular Slinkys, one had them rust within hours, another thought they sounded dull, and a number of long-time 11 players prefer the plain Power Slinky 11-48. On gauge, 11s tuned a half step down feel close to 10s in standard, so start with 10s if you are coming from 9s, and do not pick a gauge to sound like the artist: the record he is known for was cut on 10s. Players with acidic sweat move to coated strings.
