The Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster is a US-made Fender signature Strat, introduced in 1992 and finished in 3-color sunburst. It has an alder body and a maple neck, both in gloss urethane, with a thick oval neck profile; a pau ferro board with a 12 inch radius, ivory dot inlays and 21 narrow tall 6105 frets; a 25.5 inch scale; and a synthetic bone nut 1.650 inch (42 mm) wide. Three Texas Special single coils, overwound for more output, run through a five-way switch, a master volume and two tone controls, one for the neck pickup and one for the middle.

All the hardware, tuners included, is gold-plated; the black three-ply pickguard is engraved SRV; and the tremolo is a left-handed vintage synchronized unit fitted upside down on the right-handed body, so the arm sits above the strings. Weighed examples come in at about 7.4 to 8.6 lb (3.4 to 3.9 kg). A new one comes in a tweed hardshell case with a strap, a cable and paperwork.

Two things to check on a used one. Some owners swap the engraved pickguard for a plain one to keep it from scratches, so ask whether the original comes with it. The tremolo arm is missing from some examples.
