About the Fulltone OCD V1 Series 4

The Fulltone OCD is one of the defining overdrive/distortion pedals of the 2000s, an amp-in-a-box drive with a wide gain range and a two-position mode switch. It hits harder and more distortion-like than a Tube Screamer, with a notably strong low end, and covers light crunch through to high gain. It has appeared in several versions over the years, so buyers pay attention to which one they are getting, and the circuit has spawned many clones.

The best-priced as cards, a row of them; every other ad as a line, by ask. Each ask is the seller’s own number; the platform’s mark opens the listing. Each one says when we last confirmed it at its source: the price and availability are from that visit, so check the marketplace before you go.

What owners have said elsewhere

Paraphrased from 883 discussion threads among 16 owners, 2024. No names, nothing quoted.

Owners tend to love the OCD or bounce off it, with little in between. Fans call it endlessly versatile and amp-like: it does Fender and Marshall styles of drive from one box, sounds good at any gain setting thanks to its two modes, and for several is a desert-island drive. The two practical things they stress are its powerful low end and gain on tap, so many turn the tone knob up to tame the bass and keep the gain modest for the clearest tones, and how well it takes a boost: a Tube Screamer or Klon-style pedal in front tightens it up, and it doubles as a big clean volume boost. The critics are just as clear. They find it too gainy, too bassy or harsh unless the amp is already driven, and reach instead for a Morning Glory, a RAT or a Mostortion-style pedal. Because it has run through several versions and is easy to find used, buyers watch which version they are buying, and budget clones like the EHX Glove come up as cheaper ways in.
