About the Ibanez JEM7V
The JEM7V (JEM7VWH) is the signature JEM in white with gold hardware, introduced in 1993 and discontinued after 2019. All were made in Japan at FujiGen. The alder body has a basswood veneer top and back and carries the monkey grip handle. The bolt-on neck has a 25.5 inch scale, a 43 mm locking nut and 24 jumbo 6105 frets; the board is scalloped at frets 21 to 24 and carries the pearl and abalone Tree of Life vine inlay. A double-locking Edge-family tremolo sits in the recessed Lion's Claw cavity. Three DiMarzio Evolution pickups, humbuckers at neck and bridge and a single coil between, share a five-way switch, master volume and tone; tuners are Gotoh.
Some parts changed over the years. The Lo-Pro Edge gave way to the Edge Pro in 2003, and the original Edge returned in 2010. The board was ebony through 2003 and rosewood from 2004. Later necks are five-piece maple and walnut in place of one-piece maple. A Sparkle Blue JEM7VSBL with silver hardware and blue inlays was made from 2002 to 2004. Measured necks are about 0.74 to 0.76 inch deep at the first fret and 0.83 inch at the 12th; weighed examples come in at 7.2 to 8 lb (3.3 to 3.6 kg). It came in an Ibanez hard case with a tremolo arm, tools and a manual. The gold plating tarnishes and pits, on the tremolo and tuners. Owners change pots, add a push-pull tone pot or swap the switch or pickups, and the original parts usually come along.
