About the Marshall SL-5C Slash Signature
The SL-5 is a 5 watt valve 1x12 combo, switchable to 1 watt, built as the little brother of the AFD100: the AFD overdrive channel without the #34 switch, plus a clean channel and built-in reverb, EL34 power valves, a Celestion Vintage 30 and JCM800-style high and low inputs. There is no effects loop, which is the one spec owners keep coming back to. It has been out of production for years and trades second-hand only; a cream-covered French exclusive from 2014 is the rare one.

Owners rate it one of the best small combos for home and recording: the AFD and #34 sounds arrive with no pedals, the clean channel and reverb are good, and it works at whisper volume. The missing effects loop is called a deal breaker for gigging, and players who move up to a Jubilee tend to leave the SL-5 in its cover or sell it. The owners' standing comparison is with the mini Jubilee: that amp for versatility and gigs, this one for the bedroom and an AFD-flavoured gain out of the box. Owners prefer the 5 watt mode with the master kept low over the 1 watt mode, and reach for a GE-7 in front for the Use Your Illusion tone.
