Owners treat the Nano Cortex as a strong, if not revolutionary, capture pedal, several call it recommendable and note that the current crop of modelers is so good you would not be disappointed in any of them. The appeal is obvious: capture your own amps, drives and effect chains and gig them, which owners specifically want so they can leave irreplaceable or expensive gear at home. A couple of practical tips: turn on the Latch setting so the footswitches change presets the instant you step on them (by default they switch when you release, which throws off timing), and add an expression pedal. The honest caveats are real. There is a short audio gap (about 60ms) when switching presets, where the bigger Quad Cortex is seamless, it cannot load Neural's own plugin amp models (a dealbreaker for some), and an IK ToneX One does very similar captures for a lot less money, while an HX Stomp offers more features at a similar price, so a few owners feel it is over-hyped. But as a small, capture-focused modeler from a respected maker, it holds its own.
