About the Taylor 224ce K DLX
The 224ce-K DLX is a Grand Auditorium built in koa: a solid Hawaiian koa top over layered koa back and sides, a body 20 inches long, 16 wide and 4 5/8 deep, a Venetian cutaway and the ES2 pickup. It is made in Mexico. The neck has a 25.5 inch scale, a 1 11/16 inch nut and 20 frets on an ebony board, with an ebony bridge. The DLX trim is a gloss finish over the whole body with a shaded edgeburst, black binding and pickguard, and a single-ring faux pearl rosette. The ES2 reads the strings with three sensors behind the saddle and runs volume, bass and treble controls from a 9-volt battery.
Three details differ from one guitar to another. Necks are sapele on some and tropical mahogany on others; bracing is either Taylor's forward-shifted pattern or C-Class bracing with a relief rout; tuners have been chrome, gold or polished bronze. Weighed examples come in at about 4.75 to 4.85 lb, and measured nuts at about 1.69 inch (43 mm). Each one ships in Taylor's brown deluxe hardshell case with a manual and warranty paperwork.
