About the Tokai LS-201
The LS-201 is the Premium Series Love Rock of Tokai's 2024-onward catalogue, the LS196 and LS214 of the years before under the new numbering, and the modern equivalent of a 1979-80 LS120: a two-piece Canadian maple top on a one-piece African mahogany back, one-piece mahogany neck with a deep-joint long tenon, asymmetric U profile, medium-jumbo frets over the binding, bone nut, Indian rosewood board, nitrocellulose lacquer, Gotoh tuners, brass-saddle bridge and aluminium tailpiece; finishes include violin finish (VF), a curly-maple VF (CM) and a honey burst (HB). Owners date theirs to 2025.

Paraphrased from 7 discussion threads among 7 owners, 2025-2026. No names, nothing quoted.
After the honeymoon, an owner of two 2025 LS201s who has been through many Les Pauls including Custom Shop ones calls them impeccable in build and quality control, set up well out of the box, with comfortable necks neither slim nor chunky, better than a Gibson USA Standard and close to a modified 1958 Reissue, the best Les Paul-type guitar at the price, though the neck pickup on the curly-maple one had a flubby, undefined bottom end and was swapped for a WCR Darkburst; a first-time Tokai owner who has had Gibson SGs and Les Pauls is most pleased with it, calling the quality very high with no issues and better than a Gibson Standard, and an LS196 owner, the same guitar under its earlier number, calls it amazing.
