Where to find the serial
On the back panel or the base. On a 1980s serial the first two digits carry the date; from 1989 the second letter and the first digit do.
When the serial has no date
Where the serial cannot give a year, the parts inside can: the potentiometers and other components carry an EIA date code that the pot and speaker code reader decodes. This is one of the makers the synth and pedal dater covers.
