Why this number?
The typical used price is the median of 16 used sales observed in the last 90 days, with outliers removed and the figure rounded. An observed sale is often the last asking price rather than a confirmed hammer price.

About the Yamaha FG
This covers many FG models from the 1960s on, so check the model and the label inside first. The FG-180 was one of the first FG models, sold from the 1960s. Red Label FGs, among them the FG-110, FG-150, FG-180 and FG-202, were made in Japan by Nippon Gakki from about 1968 to 1972. Orange Label FGs, among them the FG-301, FG-302, FG-351, FG-252 and FG 12-301, followed in the 1970s, also from Japan; the upper models such as the FG-301, FG-351, FG-252D and FG 12-301 have Ezo spruce tops. Taiwan-made FGs date from the late 1970s and 1980s: the FG-335 (early 1980s), FG-340II, FG-345 and FG-351SB. Twelve-strings include the FG-630, FG 12-301 and FG-12-800 of the mid 1970s and the FG-420-12. The current FG-TA TransAcoustic has a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides and an actuator that adds reverb and chorus from the body without an amp.
The FG-75, FG-110, FG-150, FG-180, FG-302 and FG-630 have laminated tops, not solid ones. Vintage FGs measure about 25 inches (632 to 640 mm) in scale with a nut of about 42 to 45 mm, and weighed examples run about 1.6 to 2.1 kg (3.6 to 4.7 lb), the small-body FG-110 at the light end. On an old FG, check that the top is flat behind the bridge and the bridge is tight. Many need work to bring the action down, and some have had the bridge shaved or the neck reset, so ask what was done. Owners often replace the original plastic nut and saddle with bone.
