About the Analogman King of Tone
The Analogman King of Tone is a dual overdrive with two independent channels, each configurable as a clean boost, an overdrive or a light distortion via internal dip switches. That lets one side boost while the other drives, or both run together for near-distortion. It runs at 9V, and units from roughly 2015 on can also take 18V for extra headroom. It is as famous for its multi-year direct waiting list (often four to six years) as for its sound, which keeps used prices high.

Getting one direct means a waiting list of several years, which feeds a strong used market around 700 dollars, and a vocal group think the hype outweighs the pedal, saying cheaper dual overdrives match or beat it head to head. The good news is you can skip the wait: the Prince of Tone is one channel of the King and sells direct with little wait (two Princes roughly equal a King), the MXR Duke of Tone is a cheaper licensed take on the Prince, and clones like the Wampler Pantheon get into the neighbourhood, though some owners feel the clones sound close but do not quite feel the same.
