Owners describe the Acapulco Gold as a power-amp distortion built to nail a dimed Sunn Model T, and it is a fixture of stoner and doom boards. They love how huge and brutal it sounds, one calling it an automatic nuclear booster. It is also very loud and notably noisy, so plan for that. A common approach is to treat it like an amp, placing it at the end of the chain with everything feeding into it, adding an EQ after to dial it in and a noise gate to keep it in check.
