About the Ibanez RG550 Genesis Collection

The RG550 Genesis Collection is the Japanese-made reissue of the RG550 first built in 1987. Where the original had a one-piece maple neck, this one has a five-piece maple and walnut Super Wizard neck with a satin finish, bolted to a basswood body with the old tilt joint and stamped plate rather than the sculpted joint of most modern RGs. The maple board has black dots and 24 jumbo frets on a 25.5 inch scale, with a flat 430 mm (about 17 inch) radius and a 43 mm nut. The hardware is black: an Edge double-locking tremolo with a locking nut, and Gotoh tuners. V7 and V8 humbuckers sit either side of an S1 single coil, on a five-way switch with master volume and tone.

The neck is about 17 mm (0.67 inch) deep at the first fret and 19 mm (0.75 inch) at the 12th, and measured examples agree. Weighed examples come in at about 7.6 to 8.6 lb (3.4 to 3.9 kg). A new one ships without a case, strung with D'Addario 9 to 42 gauge. Colors include Road Flare Red, Black, Desert Sun Yellow and Electric Blue.

The best-priced as cards, a row of them; every other ad as a line, by ask. Each ask is the seller’s own number; the platform’s mark opens the listing. Each one says when we last confirmed it at its source: the price and availability are from that visit, so check the marketplace before you go.

One email when a listing shows up 15% or more under typical, or typical itself drops 15%. Never more than one a day. No account; a link to stop in every email.
