Owners rate the Flashback as peerless value: it can look like the safe, slightly boring choice next to hipper delays, but between its many algorithms, the TonePrints and the editor that lets you build your own, it does far more than the price suggests, and plenty admit they have barely scratched the surface. Buy the version that fits your board. The compact regular and the Flashback 2 (with presets and the MASH switch) suit most people, while the X4 sounds great but is large, has to sit up front so you can reach its buttons, and is power-hungry (around 300mA); a few owners disliked the v1 and steer people to the 2. The one thing to know going in is the tempo: it uses 'strum tempo', where you hold the switch and strum to set the delay time, and the original does not take an ordinary external tap switch (you need a special TRS cable). Some love that method, others find it fiddly.
