About the Tokai Breezysound TE-50
The TE-50 is the entry Breezysound Telecaster of the early 1980s: a two-piece body, TE-B pickups, a six-saddle bridge (three-saddle plates sat on the dearer models) and a grade sticker reading 50 on the back of the neck; butterscotch blonde is the finish most often seen. The block-letter logo places a guitar in late 1982 to 1983, many were built in 1982 and sold in early 1983 after the Fender lawsuit forced a re-decal, and L-prefix five-digit serials date from 1982. Owners date theirs from 1980 to 1984. Dating goes by the stamp in the control cavity or on the neck heel, whose first digit is the month; serials of this period copy Fender's and mislead, the online registry is years out of date, and a block logo screen-printed over the headstock finish is late 1982 to early 1983 where one under the lacquer is later 1983. The six-saddle bridge is the part owners change: the string path over the saddles runs at an odd angle, and a three-saddle brass replacement, a Joe Barden on one 1980, brought a clear gain in volume and sustain. Pickguards are argued over: some say any 52-spec five-hole Fender guard fits, others who have tried say vintage Tokai hole patterns never quite match and a blank guard drilled to the original is the safe route; Gotoh hardware drops in, the guitars being metric.

The best-priced as cards, a row of them; every other ad as a line, by ask. Each ask is the seller’s own number; the platform’s mark opens the listing. Each one says when we last confirmed it at its source: the price and availability are from that visit, so check the marketplace before you go.
Price history
Every recorded sale, one point each: 21 of them, placed by the day the ad went up. Too few sales to draw a trend through them without inventing one, so the points speak for themselves. Condition is mixed, so some of the spread is a mint against a fair rather than the market moving.

What owners have said elsewhere
Paraphrased from 14 discussion threads among 25 owners, 2021-2024. No names, nothing quoted.
One owner calls a 1980 TE-50 the favourite guitar of a lifetime, and a friend who played that same guitar says it was the best-playing Tele ever held; a buyer weighing a 1981 was told it is most certainly a good Tele, that nobody had ever played a bad one, and that at half the money it would knock spots off a current American Professional. The dissent: Tokai's Teles are less sought after than its Strats and the pickups in the lower grades are called underwhelming by one former TE60 owner, while another finds the bridge and the sharp body edges not quite right and would take a Fender 52 of any origin over it.
