No, it's a John Mayer PRS.

Does he use backing tracks?

No, he doesn't. He layers the song with a looper and then adds the drum beat with his BeatBuddy 2 from Singular Sound.

How does he make all those sounds live?

He only has a distortion pedal and a volume pedal, sometimes a wah. He never uses backing tracks, so everything else you hear is built up with the looper, like Ed Sheeran does.

What's the thing inside the soundhole?

It's an acoustic soundhole cover.

Which pedals are on his busking board?

Sheeran looper x model, beatbuddy 2 singular sound , boss distortion ds2, subzero booster & Eric Clapton crybaby wah

Why use a BeatBuddy rather than the drum beats built into the Sheeran Looper X?

he hasn’t considered them as yet because he had the beatbuddy before the looper and they are functional with each other , but will definitely consider it

Does he split his vocal mic to run through two amps?

yes exactly what we have so basically we have 2 mic wires and 1 spillter and then than it will come out of both amps

Which guitar does he use for jams with no amp?

Had it a while, it’s the Enyamusic global Sonic JT, perfect for these kind of videos as it has its own in built speaker so no amp needed

Does the Hush I Pro guitar have a built-in looper?

No, it does not have an inbuilt looper. i used my Sheeran Looper X

Which guitar does he play on Smells Like Teen Spirit?

it’s the Enya inspire model, really lightweight

What guitar is he playing on She Sells Sanctuary?

it is the Gretsch White Falcon , owned by Billy Duffy of the cult

Does he play full-scale guitars or junior models?

The acoustic is a dreadnought junior model which is a 3/4 scale and the les Paul is standard adult scale

Are the strings on his Clapton acoustic nylon or steel?

They are steel strings but the guitar was a gift from Eric Clapton and when you plug into an amp, which it is here, the guitar sounds absolutely amazing, Eric said it had a slight modification inside the body of the guitar to adapt it playing through a sound system, it definitely makes a huge difference

How many guitars does he own?

it varies as they come and go as some are on loan from the manufacture , but we tend to 3 acoustic and 3 electric in the house at all times

Does he busk mostly on acoustic or electric guitar?

Yes he’s decided he likes the acoustic for the majority of his busking set, the. He does 2-3 songs on the electric at the end

Would he add a vocal effects pedal like a TC Helicon VoiceLive?

i have no intention of using a vocal effect pedal, i’d prefer to do it all naturally and organically

Is there any effect on his guitar sound in the Ed Sheeran loop cover?

To be clear, the sound you hear from the guitar in this video is simply plugged into a street amp , absolutely no effects whatsoever

Where does the heavier distortion on his Oasis cover come from?

he heard the song a couple of weeks ago and just loves the vibe with the OD pedal

Does he prefer acoustic or electric, and what was his first guitar?

He prefers the electric guitar just because of the noise level 😂 his first ever guitar was a classical as it had nylon strings and was easier on his fingers

What should a beginner think about when choosing a first guitar?

First of all you need to picture yourself playing a guitar, are you playing an electric or acoustic , if you see yourself playing electric guitar the chances are you might get bored very quickly of an acoustic whereas the electric with an amp might motivate you more ? And then just choose one that’s within your budget and go for it

What guitar would he recommend to someone starting out?

to start off with any cheap guitar will work and probably buy a more expensive set of strings for it.

How does he power his amp and looper when busking?

We used to use 8 AA duracell batteries to power the cube amp, but now we have a VTOMAN powerbank that powers both the looper and the cube amp and we just plug them directly into the powerbank now that is rechargeable.

Does cold weather affect his guitars when busking?

one of the hardest things we have found is keeping the guitars in tune too, the cold air must do something to the wood/strings

Why does he keep looking down while he plays?

He's focusing on the loop pedal and the drum-machine pedal, which he operates with his feet; the loop station has eight switches, so he's making sure he hits the right ones.

Does he use a pick or fingerstyle?

He actually prefers finger picking, especially on the acoustic, because he prefers more complex arrangements and finds the challenge more stimulating.

Is his dad the one teaching him?

The other way round: Leonardo is the teacher. Dad only started playing properly last year.

How much does he practise each day?

i would say playing a little but very often is the key for me to learn a lot of songs , so like an hour a day 5-6 days a week or even everyday but no more than an hour

How long does it take him to get a new song ready to play live?

he’s been playing this one a while tbh but he will learn most songs within a day or 2 depending on the complexity and then he’ll play it over and over for a week or 2 before he will play it live

How can you stop strings buzzing when you fret them?

just keep pressing down harder and cleaner and your fingers will get stronger , literally 2-3 weeks of this will make a difference

Does he learn songs by ear or from sheet music?

by ear most of the time but he has bought & used sheet music for songs like change the world which was more challenging so he read the music to it first

How does he work out a vocal melody on the guitar?

he listens to the song a couple of times and he instantly understands the melody of the lyric section and just finds the correct notes to play on the fret board

Which YouTube lesson channels did he learn from?

he started with marty music but has really stuck at it and found other channels too like guitarzero2hero is also a good one

Does he study music theory?

he just picks things up as he goes and we think his brain works a lot of the theory out the more music he listens to

Has he tried playing slide guitar?

He once played coming home by Elmore James which is played with a slider but tbh the slider was too big for his fingers so he didn’t stick with it at the time, he really enjoyed it though, cool sound

Which guitarists influenced him first?

Eric Clapton & Mark Knopfler were his first ever guitarist he listened to and then probably John Mayer after that, now he just loves them all

Is the solo in his I Walk The Line cover improvised?

he says it’s improvised in the key of G minor

Are the solos in his Sunshine Of Your Love cover learned or improvised?

most of them are made up in the spot , obviously the blue moon section is just copying what he heard eric play

What tuning does he use for Stomp by Ben Gallaher?

yes it’s drop D tuning on the low e string

Does he play Sweet Child O' Mine, and on which guitar?

Yes he does play it , he actually prefers to play it on acoustic

How many songs does he know, and how does he pick new ones?

he was 5 when he started and he probably knows around a hundred songs by now. The songs just come up on the tutorial pages and if he likes the sound of it he’ll learn, it’s really that simple

What happens if it rains while he is busking?

it’s only ever happened once as we are very wary with regards to the weather forecast and we were underneath a shop front when it happened so everything was kept dry

How cold is too cold for him to busk?

it was more damp than cold. We don’t go busking below 10 degrees

Why use a tip jar link instead of YouTube Super Thanks?

there is either super thanks button through the video but tbh youtube take 33% of whatever you tip , so that’s why we created a tip jar so people can contribute and they only take 4%

Has he been approached by record labels?

sort of, it gets very complicated very quickly, so we have remained independent still

Does he see the same people at his busking spot each week?

Always new crowds, you get the odd local that we know but on the whole we don’t recognise anyone form one week to the next

Does he bring a spare mic for passers-by who want to sing?

yes we always have a spare microphone and always encourage people to join in

Does he have permission to busk where he plays?

we have full authority from the local council, police & proprietor’s where he plays

How did he find his cues when playing with an orchestra?

he had to decide himself when to come in and when to build up his playing, so it was a big ask and he couldn’t really hear himself properly but still did very well
