About the PRS SE Silver Sky

The SE Silver Sky is the lower-priced version of the Silver Sky that PRS designed with John Mayer, built in Indonesia by Cort: a poplar body, a bolt-on maple neck with a rosewood board and small bird inlays, 22 frets on a 25.5 inch scale, an 8.5 inch radius and the 635JM neck carve. Three 635JM single coils run through a five-way switch, one volume and two tone controls, and the in-between positions cancel hum. The truss rod adjusts from the front of the headstock; the body is gloss and the back of the neck satin.

Weighed examples come in at about 6.1 to 7.5 lb (2.8 to 3.4 kg), most 6.7 to 7.3 lb, and necks measure about 0.85 inch deep at the first fret and 0.97 inch at the 12th. The two-point steel tremolo leaves the factory set flat on the body, so it only bends the pitch down. The vintage-style tuners are non-locking. A new one comes in a PRS gig bag with 10-46 strings, the tremolo arm, a truss rod tool, hang tags and paperwork. The first colors were Dragon Fruit, Ever Green, Moon White and Stone Blue, with Storm Gray and Piano Black also offered; the 2026 range added Derby Red, Trad Blue, Laurel Green and Dandy Lion, and sparkle finishes turn up too. Owners sometimes change the pots, switch, pickups or plastics, so ask for the original parts.
