The Boss MT-2 Metal Zone is a high-gain metal distortion and one of the most divisive pedals there is: owners either love it or blame it for their tone, and detractors describe a scooped, buzzy voice. Its defenders say the secret is its enormous EQ, a wide mid sweep plus bass and treble that can go from blues to metal, but which is tough to dial and easy to make sound bad. Common advice is to run it in the amp's effects loop rather than the front, often with a tube screamer ahead of it to tighten it, and to use its EQ and level as a boost. It has been in production for decades and now has a Waza Craft version, the MT-2W, with an added Custom voicing.
