Boss CE-2W Waza Craft Chorus

Über Boss CE-2W Waza Craft Chorus

The Boss CE-2W is the Waza Craft chorus that puts two classics in one box: the CE-2 chorus and the earlier CE-1 (Chorus Ensemble) chorus and vibrato modes. It delivers the lush analog chorus heard on decades of records, the Roland JC-120, Juno-synth, Gilmour and The Cure kind of sound.

Owners treat the CE-2W as the standard for classic analog chorus and generally call it worth every penny: it covers the JC-120 and Juno-style tones that turn up all over popular music, and the added CE-1 mode brings the wider chorus-and-vibrato ensemble side. One caveat comes up regularly, though: the CE-2W's standard mode is not an exact copy of the original CE-2 circuit (some say it is closer to a CE-3), so purists chasing the exact vintage sound look for a used CE-2 or CE-3, or a boutique build. If the Waza is more than you need, owners point to cheaper routes: the digital CE-5 is fine but not vintage-voiced, the MXR Analog Chorus is a value favourite with helpful Hi and Lo cut controls, and older units like the DOD FX65 hold up as long-serving classics.
