Boss DD-3 Digital Delay

Über Boss DD-3 Digital Delay

The Boss DD-3 is a classic, simple digital delay, prized for clean, bright repeats, easy operation and rock-solid reliability, with a Hold function for infinite repeats. It has been a board workhorse since the 1980s and is one of the most-recorded delays ever. Some owners mod it with a hi-cut switch for warmer, analog-style echoes.

The DD-3 is the classic Boss digital delay, and owners treat it as a workhorse: simple, easy to use, rock-solid, with clean bright repeats and a Hold function. Players have kept them on their boards since the 1980s, and one owner reckons it is second only to the TC 2290 as the most-recorded delay of all time. Plenty just call it a great pedal, several having loved theirs for years (some moving up to a DD-7 or DD-8 for more features while still rating the DD-3). It is not universally loved: a few struggled to get a truly great sound out of it and moved to other delays. Two collector notes: the Made-in-Japan long-chip version is sought after, and owners have it modded (Analogman, or a DIY hi-cut switch) for warmer, more analog-like echoes.
