About the Gretsch G5422TG Electromatic Classic
The G5422TG is Gretsch's double-cutaway Electromatic: a fully hollow laminated maple body with a 16 inch lower bout, 2.25 inch (57 mm) deep, a Bigsby B60 vibrato and gold hardware. The set maple neck has a 24.6 inch scale, a 12 inch radius, 22 medium jumbo frets and a 1.6875 inch (42.86 mm) nut. Each pickup has its own volume, and there is a master volume with a treble bleed circuit, a master tone and a three-way toggle; the Adjusto-Matic bridge is secured to its base.
Two versions matter when you buy one. Black Top examples, also sold as the G5422TDCG, carry Black Top Filter'Tron humbuckers in a 5-ply maple body braced with parallel tone bars and a sound post, with a U-shaped neck, a rosewood board and a rosewood bridge base; they turn up in Walnut Stain and Snowcrest White. The Electromatic Classic that followed is made in China and moved to FT-5E Filter'Tron pickups, trestle block bracing, a Classic C neck, a laurel board and a laurel bridge base, in Orange Stain, Snowcrest White or Walnut Stain. Limited editions include Midnight Sapphire and Cadillac Green Metallic. Weighed examples come in at about 6.8 to 7.2 lb (3.1 to 3.3 kg). It is sold new without a case or gig bag. Factory-refurbished ones carry a small used stamp on the back of the headstock and a replaced or altered serial number.
