About the MXR M306 Poly Blue Octave

The MXR Poly Blue Octave is a polyphonic octave pedal that generates five signals, two octaves down, one down, your dry note, one up and two up, each with its own level control, and tracks in mono or polyphonic mode. On top of the octaves it packs a built-in fuzz and a dual-mode modulation, a Leslie-style swirl in polyphonic mode and a Phase 90-style sweep in mono, and it takes an expression pedal. Owners find it simple to use.

What owners have said elsewhere

Paraphrased from 42 discussion threads among 6 owners, 2024-2025. No names, nothing quoted.

Owners are fond of the Poly Blue, plainly, several just say they love it, call it awesome and way cool, and one describes it as a genuinely pretty-sounding pedal that is fun to mess around with. It does a lot in one box: five octave voices you can blend to taste, a built-in fuzz, and a modulation section that gives Leslie-style swirl in poly mode or Phase 90 sweeps in mono. Owners share a few tricks: stack the two-up and two-down octaves to conjure an organ, drop the octave-fuzz nicely into the chain after a tremolo and before a chorus, and add an expression pedal for real-time control. It is not for everyone. One owner returned his for excessive noise (likely a bad unit) but still liked it, another sold his because he wanted deeper bass-synth and organ sounds and found a Boss SY-1 did more, and a third liked it but never found a song it belonged in. For a fun, versatile poly-octave with fuzz and modulation built in, though, it wins people over.
