About the MXR M75 Super Badass Distortion
The MXR M75 Super Badass Distortion is a versatile distortion built around a full three-band EQ (bass, mid and treble) with a wide gain range, from light crunch up to high gain. It is essentially a Marshall-in-a-box, voiced in the Marshall Guv'nor tradition, and it leans toward classic-rock and mid-scooped tones rather than modern metal, despite the name. It is a separate pedal from MXR's more vintage-voiced Custom Badass '78 Distortion.

What owners have said elsewhere
Paraphrased from 102 discussion threads among 12 owners, 2024-2025. No names, nothing quoted.
Owners are warm on the Super Badass, calling it an awesome, versatile pedal, and more than one just says they love theirs. The appeal is that it is a Marshall in a box with a proper three-band EQ, so it covers a lot of ground and pairs naturally with a Marshall-style amp, though owners are quick to point out it is more of an overdrive-to-crunch box than a true metal distortion. The tip that comes up most is to stack it: put a Tube Screamer or a Klon-style overdrive in front for more compression and saturation, and owners report the TS and Badass really sing together, while adding an EQ opens up even more. The honest gripes: its output volume is very high, which makes unity gain and pairing with other pedals fiddly, and it is not for everyone, some owners prefer a RAT or a DS-1 for dirt, and one who loved his still felt a Vox V8 edged it out for definition side by side.
