About the Tokai Breezysound TE-80
The TE-80 is the top regular Breezysound Telecaster of 1980 to 1982, the 80 is the Japanese price sticker, 80,000 yen, and one of the golden-era models from 80 upward that carry the right specification: a sen ash body, nitrocellulose lacquer (an A stamp on the neck), a fat soft-V maple neck with a bone nut, TE-A pickups, Kluson-copy Deluxe tuners, and the brass bridge with three individual brass saddles that was standard on the TE-80 until 1982 while the rest of the hardware stayed nickel; the RR version wears a rosewood veneer board as a 1964-67 replica, and the truss rod went from a hex nut at the heel to a cross-head adjustment in January 1981. A TE-70 is the same guitar without the gold bridge, the 1984-85 TE-80 with abalone binding had a veneered top where the TE-120 is full ash with the grain showing front and back, and the grade is stamped past the last fret. Owners date theirs from 1980 to 1982. The brass bridge is original equipment, not a retro-fit, so do not pay extra for it as an upgrade; a refret to 6105 tall-narrow wire on the 7.25-inch radius is reported to feel great; and partscasters exist, look for outlines of an earlier decal under the lacquer, and a neck without the A lacquer stamp is not a TE-80 neck, one TE-60 RR neck having been stripped of its rosewood stain and passed off as one.

The best-priced as cards, a row of them; every other ad as a line, by ask. Each ask is the seller’s own number; the platform’s mark opens the listing. Each one says when we last confirmed it at its source: the price and availability are from that visit, so check the marketplace before you go.

Price history
Every recorded sale, one point each: 9 of them, placed by the day the ad went up. Too few sales to draw a trend through them without inventing one, so the points speak for themselves. Condition is mixed, so some of the spread is a mint against a fair rather than the market moving.

What owners have said elsewhere
Paraphrased from 10 discussion threads among 14 owners, 2021-2025. No names, nothing quoted.
The 1980-82 TE-80 is called a bit of a beast, great wood that rings like a bell, the brass bridge giving fantastic string contact, and the seller of one sat with it for three hours, called it an incredible guitar with the nicest Tele neck ever, and kept it; a 1980 is called perfection and a grail, and the 80-and-up models of 1978-82 are named the most coveted Tokais.
