About the Tokai Hard Puncher PB-80
The PB-80 is the top grade of Tokai's early-1980s Hard Puncher Precision Bass: four-screw tuners with a tension screw for firmer adjustment (the PB-50 grade has three-screw tuners), brass-saddle bridge, a thin lacquer finish over a one- or two-piece body and the grade stamped at the last fret until about 1979-80; it was offered in a standard edition and as a 57 reissue, in black, candy apple red and two-tone sunburst among others. Shops outside Japan could order colours the domestic catalogue never listed. Owners date theirs to the early 1980s.
