The Hard Puncher is Tokai's Precision Bass, made in Japan from the late 1970s through the mid-eighties, with the same grade-by-price system as the guitars: the PB-50 with plain tuners, the PB-80 with the four-screw machine heads and a tension screw, catalogue colours by code, two-tone sunburst reserved for the top grades until 1985. Serials and neck-pocket stamps date them the way the Strats are dated.
