Boss DM-2W Waza Craft

Über Boss DM-2W Waza Craft

The Boss DM-2W Waza Craft is an analog delay pedal, a modern reissue of the classic Boss DM-2. Its repeats are warm and degrade slightly as they fade, the analog trait, rather than repeating cleanly the way a digital delay does. It has a Standard mode plus a Custom mode that owners describe as voiced closer to a Boss DM-3. It stays a simple three-knob pedal, which is a big part of the appeal.

Owners rate the DM-2W very highly, several calling it one of the best delay pedals they have used, and they like that it is simple and straightforward: a three-knob delay that is quick to dial in. The sound is classic analog, warm repeats that degrade as they fade, which owners contrast with the exact, cleaner repeats of a digital delay. A recurring tip is that it is not just a lead pedal. Set short it does a fine slapback, and unlike a lot of delays that wash out, you can use it for rhythm as well as lead. The one thing newcomers to analog delay flag is the short maximum delay time, which can underwhelm at first, but owners who stick with it tend to come around to its unique voice, so the advice is to spend real time with it before moving it on. If you are cross-shopping, the comparison owners draw most is the MXR Carbon Copy: both are warm analog delays, owners hear the Carbon Copy as a touch darker, and among those who have owned both most lean to the DM-2W, though the honest answer is to demo both.
