EarthQuaker Devices Afterneath Otherworldly Reverberation Machine V3

About the EarthQuaker Devices Afterneath Otherworldly Reverberation Machine V3

The EarthQuaker Devices Afterneath is an ambient, experimental reverb (its full name is the 'Otherworldly Reverberation Machine') rather than a basic spring or room pedal. Its signature Drag control spreads the reverb into discrete, drippy echoes for cavernous, granular textures, and it is built to be pushed with an expression pedal. This is the V3.

Owners file the Afterneath under ambient and experimental, not workhorse: it is the pedal you reach for when you want otherworldly, textured, cavernous reverb rather than a plain spring or room. Because of that, it tends to live in the effects loop or the ambient section of a board, and the common advice is to add an expression pedal so you can sweep its Drag control for the wildest sounds. It really comes alive in combinations, and the pairing owners rave about is a delay into an Afterneath (a couple point to the custom Encore, a Pythagoras delay running into one) for genuinely amazing, evolving textures. If you are after everyday spring and hall sounds this is not that pedal, but for weird, immersive ambience it is a favourite.
