Electro-Harmonix Canyon Delay & Looper

About the Electro-Harmonix Canyon Delay & Looper

The Electro-Harmonix Canyon is a compact digital delay that packs a lot into one small box: multiple delay types (echo, tape, DMM, reverse and more), each with three modes, plus secondary effects like shimmer and octave, a feedback knob for runaway repeats, and a built-in looper. It sits under $200, which makes it one of the more affordable multi-delays in its class.

Owners who bought the Canyon tend to love it, and several have gigged it for years. The draw is how much it does for the money: the echo, tape and DMM voices all sound good, and owners lean on the secondary effects, one gigs it purely for the shimmer, alongside a reverse tape mode and a feedback knob that many find perfect for ambient and shoegaze. Several point to it as a great first delay because it lets you try many delay styles in one box, and there is a small looper built in. It is not for everyone. A few owners find the repeats a touch dirty or hear glitchy artifacts on the decay, some found the small knobs too sensitive to set reliably, and a handful moved on to a Boss DD-8, a DD-500 or an Empress Echosystem for a cleaner tone. Worth trying the modes before you judge it.
