Owners reach for the POG when they want the best polyphonic octave sound, and more than one calls it the best of its kind, no other poly octaver doing the job as well. The full-size POG2 is the versatile one: two octaves up and two down, detuning for a convincing 12-string, and a low-pass filter and attack control that the simpler octave boxes do not have. Owners use it for real work, an octave down through a fuzz gives flawless tracking for bass and drop-tuned parts, and it adds bottom-end depth for holding bass lines or doubling a solo, even faking an organ. It is not perfectly natural, though. Several owners find the octaves can sound synthetic or digital in isolation and note it takes dialing to avoid a church-organ tone, and a few prefer the TC The Drop for the most natural pitch or swapped to a more compact MXR Poly Blue. As one owner puts it, in isolation it can sound artificial, but in a mix it ends up all over the record.
