About the Fender American Original '60s Telecaster
The American Original '60s Telecaster is modeled on the Telecaster Custom of the early 1960s: a double-bound alder body, a 3-ply pickguard and a round-laminated rosewood board. The American Original series replaced the American Vintage reissues in 2018, though the earliest examples carry 2017 dates. Body and maple neck are in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer. The '60s C neck is a little chunkier than a modern Fender C and fills out further up the neck, with 21 vintage tall frets, a 25.5 inch scale, a bone nut 1.650 inch (42 mm) wide and a vintage-style truss rod that adjusts at the heel. The board has a 9.5 inch radius where the originals had 7.25 inch.
Two Pure Vintage '64 gray-bottom single coils with alnico 5 magnets run through a modern three-way blade (bridge, both, neck), a master volume and a master tone; the bridge pickup has a copper plate and staggered poles. The bridge has three steel barrel saddles, with single-line Fender Deluxe tuners. Weighed examples come in at about 7.2 to 7.9 lb (3.3 to 3.6 kg), most between 7.3 and 7.6 lb. The case is usually a black G&G hardshell, with the ashtray bridge cover, a certificate and case candy. The change owners make most often is the saddles, compensated or brass in place of the steel barrels, and the originals usually come along; replacement pickups also turn up. The thin nitro finish takes light impressions and shows checking with age and handling. Colors include Lake Placid Blue, 3-Color Sunburst and Fiesta Red.

Price history
Every recorded sale, one point each: 776 of them, placed by the day the ad went up. The line follows the middle of the sales around each point, with the middle half behind it, and breaks wherever nothing sold nearby. Condition is mixed, so some of the spread is a mint against a fair rather than the market moving.
