About the Fender American Professional II Jazz Bass
The American Professional II Jazz Bass is made in the USA and carries on Fender's American Standard line. Against the first American Professional, the II brought V-Mod II pickups, rolled fingerboard edges, a satin finish on the back of the neck and a sculpted neck heel. Weighed examples come in at about 8.5 to 9.5 lb (3.9 to 4.3 kg). It comes in a Fender molded hard case with paperwork and a wrench. Owners often fit new pickups, sometimes with a new wiring harness or control plate, or swap the pickguard, so ask whether the original parts come with it. The factory pickguard is tortoiseshell, mint green or black depending on the color.
The body is alder, or roasted pine on select colors. The maple neck has a Slim C profile and Posiflex graphite rods, with a rosewood or maple board, a 9.5 inch radius, 20 narrow tall frets, a bone nut 1.5 inch (38.1 mm) wide and a 34 inch scale. Two V-Mod II single coils run through a volume for each pickup and a master tone. The four-saddle HiMass Vintage bridge takes the strings through the body or from the top, and the lightweight vintage-style tuners have tapered shafts. Common colors are 3-Color Sunburst, Olympic White, Black, Dark Night and Mystic Surf Green.
