About the Fender Player Jazz Bass
The Player Jazz Bass is made in Mexico and replaced the Jazz Bass of Fender's Mexican Standard series. Against the Standard it brought new Alnico 5 pickups and body edges shaped closer to the original Jazz Bass. The two single coils run through a volume for each pickup and a master tone. The body is gloss alder, and the Modern C maple neck is satin on the back and gloss on the headstock face, with a 34 inch scale, a 9.5 inch radius, 20 medium jumbo frets and a synthetic bone nut 1.5 inch (38.1 mm) wide. The board is maple with black dots or pau ferro with white dots. The rest is a four-saddle bridge, open-gear tuners, disc string trees, a 3-ply pickguard and a four-bolt neck plate stamped with an F.
Weighed examples come in at about 8.2 to 9.6 lb (3.7 to 4.4 kg). New ones come without a case or gig bag. Owner changes turn up often, so ask what is original. Colors include 3-Color Sunburst, Black, Polar White, Buttercream, Tidepool, Candy Apple Red and Capri Orange.
