Fender Johnny Marr Signature Jaguar

About the Fender Johnny Marr Signature Jaguar

The Johnny Marr Jaguar is a US-made signature model based on his modified 1965 Jaguar, with an alder body and a maple neck in nitrocellulose lacquer, a 24 inch scale and a rosewood board with a 7.25 inch radius and 22 vintage-style frets. The neck copies his 1965 guitar, a C profile thicker than a standard early 1960s Jaguar neck.

Two custom-wound Bare Knuckle single coils run through a master volume, a master tone and a four-position blade: bridge, neck, both in parallel and both in series. In place of the rhythm circuit, two slide switches on the upper horn cut low end, one in every position and one only in series. The bridge has Mustang saddles and nylon post inserts, and the taller tremolo arm sits in a nylon-lined sleeve that stops it swinging.

Weighed examples come in at about 7.6 to 8.9 lb (3.4 to 4.1 kg), most between 8.3 and 8.9 lb. It comes in a G&G hardshell case with a blue lining, with a strap, a cable, flatwound strings, the bridge cover and a certificate. Factory strings are 10 to 46 gauge; owners often go up to 11s. The thin lacquer chips, dimples and cracks easily, often at the neck pocket and neck plate. Owners also swap the bridge and the pickguard, so ask whether the original parts come with it. Standard finishes are Olympic White and Metallic KO; Sherwood Green Metallic was a 2014 special run, and a limited Fever Dream Yellow version has a mint green guard.
