Strymon Cloudburst Ambient Reverb

About the Strymon Cloudburst Ambient Reverb

The Strymon Cloudburst is a simple, natural-sounding ambient reverb. Its standout is the Ensemble control, which layers in shimmery, synth-like voices, and it keeps things easy with a small set of controls plus presets and MIDI. It is simpler than Strymon's Big Sky and Blue Sky, and is aimed more at ambient washes than a plain hall or room.

The Cloudburst is Strymon's simple, natural ambient reverb, and owners love it. Its calling card is the Ensemble control, which adds shimmery, synth-like voices for lush pad washes, and despite a small control set you can dial almost anything in, with presets and MIDI to recall it. Many rate it as an incredible ambient reverb and a favourite, and more than one switched from the bigger Big Sky or Blue Sky and never looked back. The honest flip side is that it is a soundscape pedal first: some find it harder to dial in as a plain, normal reverb (a Strymon Flint is easier for that, and its hall arguably sounds better), and a few feel it is overhyped for pure shimmer. It is naturally cross-shopped with Strymon's own Blue Sky, which owners find more versatile and traditional while the Cloudburst is simpler and more ambient.
