Cat's Eyes is Tokai's Martin-style acoustic line, built in Japan from the mid-1970s. Tokai made Sigma guitars under licence from Martin for the Japanese market and used the same methods on its own brand, which is why a Martin reference appears inside some of them; every model from the CE-500 upward has a solid top, the higher numbers all-solid construction and more inlay, and a Snappy is a Cat's Eyes that failed a cosmetic check. Production moved to China around 2006.
