About the Tokai Silver Star SS-60
The SS-60 is the 60-grade Silver Star, Tokai's large-headstock seventies-style Strat of 1979 to 1984, with a sen body under a three-tone burst and the grey-bottom pickups of the grade; Tokai priced an SS-60, ST-60 and TST-60 alike, so the Silver Star is held to be no lower in quality than the Springy Sound or Goldstar, and the early-1980s guitars are the more accurate Fender copies. For late 1981 to 1982 only there was a rare four-bolt SS60 copying a 1966 Strat, the Hendrix model, one of just two Silver Stars with a neck-plate serial, the three-bolt models carrying it on the headstock decal; the necks run narrow, about 40-41 mm at the nut. Owners date theirs from 1981 to 1983.

Price history
Every recorded sale, one point each: 11 of them, placed by the day the ad went up. Too few sales to draw a trend through them without inventing one, so the points speak for themselves. Condition is mixed, so some of the spread is a mint against a fair rather than the market moving.

What owners have said elsewhere
Paraphrased from 6 discussion threads among 11 owners, 2021-2026. No names, nothing quoted.
A 1983 plays really well with original grey-bottom pickups its owner calls very nice; the sen bodies are loved, a Goldstar-era owner marvels that it holds tune for weeks, and the Silver Stars are called the equal in build of the dearer Tokai Strats, though one player finds the necks too narrow and notes the line floods the second-hand market, and another regrets selling.
