    By ear, from 14

He has played since he was 14, listening to Guns N' Roses and Slash every day.

No teacher: he learned alone and by ear, practising six to eight hours a day along with songs. He still plays without tabs.

“Learned to play alone man with enough time and will everyone can. I was practicing for 6-8 hours a day with songs, only by ear.”

Beyond Slash, the players he credits with making him pick up the guitar include Joe Perry, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Michael Schenker.

The ’87 refinish, and a Jubilee in every size

    The '87 refinish

In 2016 the R8 spent a month at B&G Guitars, a luthier shop in Israel, which refinished the top in thin nitro to look like the 1987 Les Paul Slash played from the Snakepit days on. The factory finish was too red for him.

“it was too red sunburst so I refinished to Slash's 87 les paul specs”
Source: Paradise City - Gibson R8(Slash) Marshall JCM Slash ↗In the photo: Gibson Les Paul R8 Slash 87' Refinish ↗

He says the refinish made it sound better too, and he has yet to play a historic or Custom Shop Les Paul he likes more. Orange drop caps with a treble bleed, new tuners and two gold and two amber knobs finished the job.

“I played alot of historic and custom shop les pauls and I didnt find nothing that compares to this one yet.”

Which Les Paul for Slash's sound?

les paul deluxe have mini humbucker pickups not regular humbuckers. You can also get the sound with les paul studio or traditional. But the best is les paul custom shop or standard.

Alnico II Pro or the Slash signature pickups?

Slash signature has more output and I like it to be less output and more guitar & amp sound rather than from the pickup.
