About the Boss BD-2W Blues Driver
The Boss BD-2W Blues Driver is the Waza Craft version of the classic BD-2, made in Japan with a sturdier build. Its key addition is a two-mode switch: Standard, which stays close to the original BD-2's organic, amp-like overdrive, and Custom, which adds a good amount of extra grit and gain. It keeps the familiar Blues Driver voice while giving you a hotter option on tap.

What owners have said elsewhere
Paraphrased from 179 discussion threads among 11 owners, 2024-2025. No names, nothing quoted.
Fans of the Blues Driver sound rate the BD-2W very highly, one calls it a desert-island pedal that rocks, another says it is killer and, next to a vintage Nobels ODR-1, his favorite overdrive, and a player who compared it against a JHS Morning Glory in a shop strongly preferred the BD-2W and put it on his board. The two-mode switch is the draw: Standard is close to the original, and Custom adds grit. Owners mostly use it as an organic, light-gain overdrive, often always-on before other dirt (a RAT after it is a popular pairing), and they stack a boost or overdrive in front for heavier rock and solos, or a clean booster after. The honest debate is whether the Waza is worth it over the standard BD-2: some prefer the original and even sold the Waza to go back, several feel the Waza drives (the BD-2W and SD-1W) are less essential than the Waza reissues of discontinued pedals like the CE-2W or HM-2W, and a few find a Keeley-modded Blues Driver more impressive. Either way, the underlying Blues Driver tone stays a go-to.
