Owners rate the IR-2 highly as an amp-in-a-box: they call it great, incredible, a swiss army knife with headroom for days, and one who switched from a ToneX says the IR-2 sounds fantastic even on the stock IRs. The strongest endorsement is a blind test, one owner gigged it through venue PAs and had other guitarists rave about the amp before he revealed it was just the IR-2. It takes pedals well, even stacked overdrives. The tips owners share center on the effects loop and gain staging: run your time-based and modulation effects (and harmonizers) in the loop so your drives do not mangle them, set an amp at the edge of breakup and push it with an SD-1 (level up, drive down), and note the Crunch model is the most amp-like and takes pedals best.
