Owners describe the MD-500 as an underrated all-in-one modulation box and adore the range of sounds packed into it, from lush chorus to the slicer. It slots into a preset-based rig well, with MIDI recall alongside the DD-500 and RV-500 and an insert loop that lets you fold an external drive into a patch. The one recurring complaint is the built-in tremolo, which some owners find limited and hard to get real depth from, enough that a few add a dedicated tremolo pedal.
